Fred Whitton Challenge

Wow! What a day. 112 miles and over 10,000 ft around the Lake District on a baking hot day.

The Fred Whitton Challenge is challenging cycle event held annually in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. It takes in the grueling climbs of Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott & Wrynose. I'm not ashamed to admit it but Hardknott beat me, we hit it with 93 hard miles already in the legs and I had to get off on the ridiculously steep 30% hairpins and typically that is where the event photographer stood. Oh well it would have been a good photo. My respect goes to anyone who got up the full climb.

Some photos taken during the ride....

On Hardknott just ridiculously steep! - Note no one on a bike.
