Coigach Peninsula bike ride

Our first full day in Coigach and we decided to take it steady and ease our way into the activities ahead with a short 25 mile ride around the Coigach peninsula. It was a wise choice as the weather on the coast fared much better than in land. The ride out along the road which passes under Stac Pollaidh was straight into a strong headwind it is a good job the scenery is spectacular as this took our mind off the gruelling ride, well at least the return would be easy with the tailwind.

This was very much a relaxed ride around as we stopped frequently to take photos and admire the views. Although leisurely we still had to put in some considerable effort to get up two fairly steep climbs one from a beach up to Polbain and the other from Altandhu up to the viewpoint. Then a fun descent down from the viewpoint dodging sheep as we went along. We took a slight detour down to admire Achnahaird Bay before our wind assisted return back to the cottage.

Nice pot of tea back at the cottage
