Lark Rise to Candleford

This is a local 4 mile walk literally about 3 miles from my house, it starts and finishes in Cottisford and takes in the Tusmore Estate and Juniper Hill, Flora Thompson who wrote Lark Rise to Candleford grew up here and the story (apparently as I have not read it or seen the TV series) is all about her childhood growing up in the area. If you are interested in then here is a link for some more information on Flora Thompson, Lark Rise to Candleford and the area.

It was still very cold and icy when we (myself and my two girls) set off from Cottsiford, taking a right turn along a track which winds its way through the Tusmore Estate, passing a large memorial with a fine view down to the main house. We then made our way across to the tiny village of Juniper Hill and en route getting a glimpse of RAF Croughton. We stopped for a snack & Hot Chocolate in Juniper Hill before heading back to Cottisford and the car.
