On Sunday myself and a fellow BMCC club member Martin rode the Harp Hilly Hundred, this event was due to be held on the 29th Jan however due the the snow fall and dangerous cycling conditions that weekend it was moved to 3rd March.
The event started and finished at Hemel CC clubhouse and involved a tough 100km with well over 3,500ft of ascent. This reoute took in some of major road climbs in the Chilterns, Including Bison Hill up past Whipsnade Zoo and then onto the Dunstable Downs, Aston Hill near Wendover Woods and Ivinghoe Beacon which is the start (or finish) of the Ridgeway National trail, however it has to said the whole route was very undulating.
For the second week running I blindly followed another fellow HHH rider missing the correct turn in Berkhamsted, luckily I noticed it wasn't right and we turned back although the other guy we followed didn't, and when we arrived back at the clubhouse there he was tucking into some cake!! Anyway we can happily take off 10 mins from our time for this error, meaning a total of 4hrs 13mins.
I really enjoyed this ride especially the challenege of the hills, definatley will look to do it again next year.
