Winter skills - Well hopefully!!

Tomorrow I'm setting off for the Lake District, Patterdale to be precise for a Winter Skills course this weekend, having just read the latest weather forecast from the Met Office for the area (see below). It makes interesting reading!!

Gale or severe gale force northwesterly winds will be a major hazard for hillwalkers. The very strong wind combined with sub-zero temperatures at most levels will result in severe wind-chill and risk of hypothermia. Otherwise sunny spells and snow showers. Showers mainly in the west with hills east of Keswick and Ambleside staying mainly dry.

We could have done with it being a couple of weekends ago as there has also been a thaw this week, and I understand most of the snow has now gone.... typical, Oh well hopefully we will find some patches to have a play on. I will be taking the camera so will be posting some photos next week.

  1. I'm off to Patterdale this weekend as well. The MWIS forecast for Saturday looks absolutely appalling, but Sunday looks quite good. Hope you enjoy the course, if it's really bad, it will be pub and gear shops for me!

    1. Geoff, There is a group of us staying in the YHA, we will be in the White Lion on Friday night and probably Saturday night as well. I think we will be going out on Saturday but where and for how long, we will see
