Malverns twice in 3 days

Two separate trips to the #MalvernHills within 3 days one on #MTB with mates and one on CX bike as I had a few hours to kill while in the area.

Sunday myself and 3 mates went over to the Malvern Hills and biked the full range end to end and back. Weather was cloudy and turned wet and cold but we were treated to an inversion when we got higher up, which was nice.

Walking off the Christmas indulgence in the Carneddau

Between Christmas and New Year I headed over to Snowdonia to try and walk off some of the Christmas indulgence It was a beautiful clear and crisp winters day the only thing missing was some snow. Couldn't believe it was the 28th December and there was no snow at all, really goes to show how mild it has been recently.

We parked near the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue base and walked/scrambled up onto Pen yr Ole Wen we were greeted with a fantastic view back to Tryfan and beyond of mist covered valleys and summits the scene looked like a storm at sea.

Mid Wales MTB weekend Day 2

On Day 2 we set off from Nant-y-moch Reservoir in the shadow of Pumlumon, the plan was to do a loop to Machynlleth for lunch. However the going was slow over the terrain and with one of the group struggling the correct & wise decision was made while by Glaslyn Lake and we headed back to the car following the route we came. The weather was a bit miserly compared to the previous day. As usual loads of photos to follow.......

Mid Wales MTB weekend Day 1

Recently I headed over to Mid Wales with a group of friends to have a Mountain Biking weekend, we based ourselves in Rhayader. On Day 1 We did a there and back route to Claerddu Bothy from the visitor centre. Visiting a Bothy was a new experience for most of the group, and they were impressed, mind you Claerddu Bothy is a 5 star Bothy so I hope I haven't set the standard too high for when we visit others in the future. This also served as a minor recce for next years years planned attempt of the Trans Cambrian Way. Plenty of photos from day 1 follows......

Vale of Ewyas (in better weather)

Photos from a walk around the Vale of Ewyas in the Black Mountains. I started and finished at Llanthony Priory headed up onto Offa's Dyke dropped down to Capel y Ffin, then back up the other side and walked along the ridge to Bal Mawr before dropping back down to the Priory.

The last time I did this walk the weather was horrendous so it was nice to actually see the route this time.

Malvern Hills birthday walk

A birthday walk in the Malvern Hills with my wife. Very quiet as it was a weekday, not often you see the top of Worcestershire Beacon with no one on it.
